Okay, step one, this story was genuinely creepy. I've read a few "after the end survivor journals," being a fantasy and science fiction fan, and they rarely, if ever, disappoint. Zombies also are one of the few monsters in fiction that genuinely get me scared. Not sure if it's the...

Hi Maggie,

I featured the Zombie Journals on our latest podcast. Good stuff! We're still very much looking forward to the follow up!

Being AB positive myself, I began to think that perhaps I should start doing wind sprints more often as I read that particular passage.
Interesting concept though I wondered how poorly attached fingers could write or type due to it being mentioned on page 5 that the fingers were still attached at that time after the initial wreck.
Other than that, good job! I liked how the zombie had difficulty keeping a train of thought going; the struggle evident in his tone.

Some excellent parts to this story, a good description of Zombie life and convincing (if that's the right word) details about the symptoms.
I wasn't convinced about the recipes or song lyrics,

Reading a zombie novel from the perspective of the zombie is rarely done well. This is just a temporary return to humanity for the narrator, writing desperately as he has been temporarily satisfied...

I never read or saw anything about the zombie talking about how they live or thier feelings. Great writing. I love to write poetry so, the ending of your story with a poem was great. Exspecially the last 2 phrases of the poem. Words with a metaphorical twist. I loved it.

An excellent read. It is clear you know your way around the English language.

What I enjoyed most is the ironic humanity the zombie had. The writer had a knack for cooking. I found

Maggie's book is, I believe, the first zombie story told from the point of view of the zombie. Her political message is clear, but she doesn't dwell on it. Compact story but moving.

I must say that this story is by far the best Zombie themed story or film I've ever read or seen. It's unusual for a zombie to have his own voice, and the device of having the US government spread...
