LIBBOO BOUNTY
Write, collaborate & Publish – Gain Exposure – Earn Notoriety & Money

In Delirium Bloom is the first book created entirely through Bounty – Our way of asking for a particular piece of genre from our growing community of authors, readers and content creators.  We want you to meet the authors who created the wonderful short stories, now collected and published as In Delirium Bloom - now available to read online only on Libboo and for sale on Barnes & Noble and Amazon for $2.99.

In Delirium Bloom began as a ‘call’ to our community asking for short fiction related to anything about Zombies, Vampires and Werewolves. For an entire month, our community of authors responded – creating and publishing wonderful short stories in this genre on Libboo.com. Towards the end, our technology analyzed and gave us the best, most popular, top 5 short stories – the winners for this Bounty. Now, lets meet the authors:

NICK ZAINO III

Sing for your Life

Nick Zaino is a writer and musician based in Boston. His work as a journalist has appeared in the Boston Globe, the Boston Phoenix, Blurt, American Songwriter, and TheSpitTake.com. His fiction has been published in One Buck Horror and TalesOfWorldWarZ.com. He is a big fan of the zombie genre in all mediums – The Walking Dead, David Moody’s novels, Max Brooks, and of course, the Romero films. You can hear his music at http://nickzaino.bandcamp.com/. He is uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person, but does it anyway.

ALEXIS LYKANOS

South of the Wallomsac

Alexis was born in Lyme, New Hampshire. After graduating from Williams College in 2010, he lived for a year in Boston and now resides in Baltimore.  He has been writing fiction since he was young, and although he mainly writes short stories now, he hopes to pen a novel at some point.  He loves reading fiction, particularly realism and magical realism.  Influences include Ray Carver, Ernest Hemingway, Haruki Murakami, Karen Russell, and Anton Chekhov.  In addition to being published on Libboo, he won the 2010 Benjamin B. Wainright Prize in Fiction at Williams College.  His story, “South of the Walloomsac,” gets its thematic inspiration from his lifelong love of werewolves (he himself may very well be one…) and the idea of transformation more generally. He likes to think about how setting influences the meaning of stories.

JOSEPH MAZZOLA

Wrath to the Least

My name is Joseph Mazzola, and I’m a Bostonian, although I wish I lived in either Texas or Ireland. I’ve been writing since High School but Wrath to the Least is the first of my many, many short stories to be published, but it won’t be the last if I have half a say. I was inspired to become a fantasy writer in 2003 by the Elder Scrolls video game series, which showed me with its detailed world and lore that fantasy has no limits outside the author’s head. Wrath to the Least was a half-formed idea floating around for this world that I had created about these shriveled ghosts that had nothing left but their own rage. When I saw that Zombies was a potential subject for the Bounty, I got to thinking that perhaps these ghosts, called Furies after the spirits in Greek Mythology, should be able to possess dead bodies for a sort of High Fantasy zombie tale, and then I had the protagonist be a character I had already set as the hero in some other, as yet unpublished, stories. The result, when all these disparate parts came together, was a tale that focused more on a somewhat lighthearted “fantasy western” as opposed to straight horror, which should help give a nice variety of tone to the In Delerium Bloom collection.

SARA ADAMS

Here and Now

Sara Adams lives in Haverhill and is currently a student at University of Massachusetts in Boston. Sara looks to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Theater Arts, intending to direct as well as write. She is an avid fan of noir, thrillers, and horror stories, though is always looking to try out something new. She is extremely grateful to Libboo for this opportunity, and looks forward to more chances like this in the future.

DAVE PALMER

The Familiar

David Palmer is Libboo member @lincsdave. He has published a variety of highly rated works on Libboo such as The Flute and is a Co-author of PARADOX: The curious life and mysterious death of Mr. Joseph Wheeler.

AMANDA BRACK

Illustrator (book cover and final page)

Amanda Brack is a native of Maine and will commence her senior year at The School of the museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA. Amanda has received the Gold and Silver award at the Boston Globe Show in 2008, has had a gallery showing in Savannah GA in March 2010 and has illustrated other book covers.
