Rants - Vegetarians
Rant 1 of... errr... as many as i can do!
Edited by Derren Brodie
Tags: [rant] [vegetarian]
This rant is all about my views on vegetarians. Of course, there are those vegetarians who are not ignorant (like my wife) - but choose to act ignorantly none the less!! Although i believe what i say, i really do not mean any offence. i love vegetarian food, for example - but i'm just a believer of "If you have principles, let those principles govern your lifestyle" - not the other way around.

This Libbook is simply meant to stir up some conversation - i'm sure some will love it but alot will hate it. Nevermind!! i'm sure you'll still manage to occupy 20 minutes of your day with it nonetheless!

God had originally designed us to be strictly herbivores, and all animals were designed that way as well. After Noah's Flood, most/all of the plants were wiped out, so God allowed Noah's family and the animals to eat meat, become omnivores.
Oh, and something else. Before the Flood, when anything that was consumed was plants, a human lifespan was almost a thousand years! After, it rapidly diminished down to the standard of 75, 80, we have now. I think this means that eating meat shortens human lifespans. I coud be wrong though, but it's something to think about

Roger, I haven't yet read Derren's rant (can't download it for some reason. I agree with some of your points but would like to comment on some others. If Derren said we have evolved to eat meat, he has it the other way around. Humans are omnivores, as our teeth show. Scientists believe that the brains (and intelligence)of hominids increased over the ce! nturies due to a high protein diet, meaning a meat diet supplemented by whatever fruits, vegetables and herbs that were in season. It's perfectly true that nowadays we don't need to eat meat. However, a chicken to me simply looks like food. I'ts a matter of taste, some would say of ethics.
I too am puzzled by his idea that human farming is a good idea because it would
reduce disease. There is arsenic in our chicken because chicken producers simply stack them up in wire cages, which is incredibly unsanitary. Probably most chickens raised this way would die of diseases if they were not pumped up with antibiotics and arsenic. The solution, range free raising, is extremely easy, but the Purdues of the world want to get maximum profit out of every square inch of their land.
If farm animals died out, so what? These are only breeds within the species, not even sub-species. All domestic farm animals by species are in no danger of dying out! .

There is a program out there called Food Inc. If anyone wants to know an impartial (yet passionate) view of how food is made, check out:

http://www.takepart.com/foodinc

It's the "Incredible Truth" of food programs - although at times a bit lecture-some, it really hits home a few of the points I've made and is something everyone should know about.

This book contained so many inaccuracies that I don't know where to start. You make so many assumptions, not because they are correct, but because they help your argument, that it's hard to pick out any facts, if indeed you have included any.

Not only do you ignore the basic facts of...
